Which AI Agent UX patterns will help customers place massive orders quickly and effortlessly?
My work on the AI Purchasing Agent
Client Pain Points
Warehouse teams with high transaction volume spend hours ordering from multiple vendor sites and placing purchase orders with sales agents.
Response’ core product workflow of searching our online catalog of products and adding them to your cart had some performance and reliability gaps. These UX gaps were impacting the customer adoption rate. (Measured by spend rate)
SOLUTION
I designed an AI Purchasing Agent (aka the Digital Procurement Officer) in our Chrome extension that optimizes and automates purchasing workflows and closes those performance and reliability gaps.
I designed the MVP of this feature with a scaleable AI Agent component collection can be used for other types of inputs like voice commands, files and images.
OUTCOME
This AI Purchasing Agent enables faster purchasing for customers with an AI chat UI flow that can bulk add a list of products to one cart in a few clicks instead of shopping at multiple vendors.
Testing the beta version of this feature with customers gave us the insight that we needed to pivot and tailor this product to distributors instead of buyers on Ops Teams.
Initial customer feedback: "For businesses with high transaction volume, it’s a game-changer! It totally automates the “junior buyer” or clerk role."
